Privacy Policy
Pianora (the "App") turns sheet music and audio into playable piano keys. We built Pianora to be private by design: your scores, recordings, and audio files are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. This policy explains what limited information the App does handle, why, and the choices you have.
Pianora does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and we do not sell your personal information.
On-device processing
Optical music recognition (converting a photo or PDF of sheet music into notes) and audio-to-MIDI transcription run locally on your device. The sheet music images, PDFs, microphone recordings, and audio or video files you import are not transmitted to us or to any third party. They stay on your device unless you choose to back them up to your own iCloud (see below).
Information we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the App, keep it stable, and process purchases:
- Anonymous identifier. The App creates an anonymous identity to operate. It is not linked to your name or email, and it is reset if you reinstall the App.
- Usage & analytics data. Aggregated, non-identifying information such as which screens are viewed and which features are used, along with basic device and app-version information, to help us understand and improve the App.
- Diagnostics & crash reports. If the App crashes or hits an error, we collect technical diagnostics (for example device model, OS version, and a stack trace) to fix problems.
How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and secure the App.
- Diagnose crashes and fix bugs to improve stability.
- Understand feature usage so we can improve the product.
- Process subscriptions, free trials, and purchase restoration.
- Deliver on-device recognition models to your device.
We do not use your information for advertising and we do not sell it.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf.
- Google Firebase — anonymous authentication, analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration.
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management.
- Cloudflare — delivery of on-device recognition models.
- Apple — App Store payments and, if enabled, iCloud backup.
iCloud backup
If you enable backup, your sheets, converted recordings, imported sound fonts, and settings are stored in your own iCloud account using your personal iCloud storage. This data is governed by Apple's iCloud Terms and Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud contents and cannot read your backups. You can delete this data at any time from your device or iCloud settings.
Data retention
Content you create in the App remains on your device (and in your iCloud if backup is enabled) until you delete it. Analytics, diagnostics, and purchase records maintained by our service providers are retained according to their own policies. Uninstalling the App removes on-device data and resets the anonymous identifier.
Children's privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us.
Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Since Pianora does not maintain accounts tied to personal identities, the primary way to remove data is to uninstall the App and, if applicable, delete your iCloud backup.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, and processing data on your device by default minimizes the information that ever leaves it. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
